What was the signficance of the Law of Moses? The Lord appeared in a pillar of fire, at the dedication of the first temple, built by Solomon. David wanted to build the temple, but the Lord said of him, "He was a man of war and had too much blood on his hands". The children of Israel could hear Jehovah's voice during the dedicatory prayer, however, the Lord's face was hid from them, as he came in a pillar of fire.

We also see, in Mose 5, after the fall, Adam heard the voice of the Lord from the Garden, but was forbidden to see his face. The fall meant Adam could no longer walk and be in the presence of God.

However, as Adam was obedient and kept the commandments of God, he gained a full understanding of the saving power of the atonement and towards the end of Adam's life, the Lord appear to him and Adam once again spoke face to face with God. Adam gained an understanding of the atonement by the Holy Spirit and Adam being filled with the spirit, prophecied great things for his posterity and all the great patriarchs heard his prophecies and called him Michael.

The Law of Moses contained the day of atonement, where the sins of the House of Israel were forgiven; The Law of Mose contained the Law of Sacrifice, a foreshadowing of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten; The Law of Mose contained the day of Thanksgiving, where man reconciled himself to God and offerred up thanksgiving to his God. Others have spoke face to face with God: Mose, Enoch, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Issaac, Jacob, and Joseph Smith.

What happened? Jesus taught, he came not destroy the prophets but too fullifill the law of Shiloh (Jehovah and the Father). Jesus was the Law, Mose was a prototype, and Jesus was name by which salvation comes to man. Jesus was both the sacrifice and the great high priest, who offerred the sacrifice. Joseph Smith was the prophet responsible, for restoring the priesthood ordinances that restored the Laws of God back on the earth. Joseph Smith through direct instruction and revelation from God restored the Law of Christ on the earth. This instruction came directly from the Lord and these ordinances and promises provided binding power transcending mortality and established eternal promises of increase, joy, and power. Joseph Smith was the prophet, who the Lord through his servant provided priesthood keys too restore the priesthood ordinances (D&C110). These priesthood keys provided saving power and were integrally connected to the Atonement of Jesus (D&C109). Through obedience and diligence to God's commandments man could overcome his mortal test and gain exaltation.

Joseph Smith taught us the more about the nature of God because of his direct interaction with the Lord. Joseph Smith was the mouth piece of the Lord similar too Mose. In fact, the Book of Mormon prophet Nephi, prophesied of a great leader like unto Mose, who would liberate the people, in our day, from spiritual bondage. This great leader would be Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith taught the members - how to prepare themselves to be worthy and ready to return back into the presence of God. Joseph Smith attacked self aggrandizement, pride, foolishness, selfishiness, and the techniques and tactics of the devil. Joseph Smith taught how the Law of Christ would help establish a Zion people and the role the priesthood would play in presiding over the Kingdom of God. The prophet Joseph Smith talked comfortable about the meaning of the prophecies of John the Revelator opening up additional truth concerning the great signs of the time. Men of profound intellect found the prophet Joseph Smith easy to talk with, understanding, and capable of helping them understand the mysteries of God. Many relied deeply on the prophet Joseph Smith too teach them and how too walk correctly before God. The prophet Joseph Smith demonstrated Christ like compassion healing numerous individuals through the priesthood, in the name of the Lord. Even after many generations, the descendants would rejoice in the mercy the prophet Joseph Smith offer through the power of Jesus Christ. Other descendants would bear testimony that the mantle of the prophet fell on the prophet Bringham Young and declare him a prophet of God. The prophet Joseph Smith was not a bitter man, instead, he was a robust energtic man with a incredible whit, piercing eye, and a warm smile. The prophet Joseph Smith could point out a person weakiness and follies and that individual would rejoice in the accessment. The prophet Joseph Smith brought about him some of the most loyal friends, willing to die for him, preserve him when and where possible, and perform great errants for the prophet. The prophet Joseph Smith inspired greatness, great unending devotion to do the Lord's work, and brought forth a great banner for the world to see.
