Arguing with Idiots

1. The global recession is affecting everyone. Returns cannot be had without risk.

2. Free market capitalism should set the rates on borrowing money set by market participates, based on risk, reward, and that making bad loans will result in bankruptcy. Under true free-market capitalism government would have no involvement in home ownership. It is not the right of every American to own a home; this is forced distribution of wealth doctrine.

3. The housing market has been manipulated by the government every step of the way.

4. Success without compassion results in greed and excess. Individual Americans should be responsible to solve their own problems and preserving America as an independent and free nation. An economic system will fail if individuals stop caring about the welfare of others.

5. President Grover Cleveland said, "I do not believe that the power and duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit...The people support the government, the government should not support the people". The paternal care of government weakens the sturdiness of our national character. Personal sacrifice to help out those in needs is better for the country, banks and insurance companies included. President Cleveland turned down request from people looking for a federal handout. The government is not in charge of redistributing the taxpayer money to the poor.

Charity is a function of religions and charitable organizations.

6. Combining government with private industry always fails because each group's motives are different. Private companies exist to create wealth, where government exists to provide protections to life, liberty, and property. Private companies manage expenses to capitalize on profits, whereas, government attempt to spend every dollar it is given. Corporation serves shareholders and customers. Governments serve taxpayers, politicians, special interest groups, and established bureaucracy.

7. Government should streamline. However, preconceived notions of how government runs will make change never impossible. Agencies that issue debt and accumulate loses can be reorganized to become profitable or shutdown. Excessive Regulation does not improve quality. Excessive regulation increases litigation costs, administrative processing, and decreases time to produce. Government is not built for speed, efficiency, or Productivity. Government needs to run on business like principles and accountability.

8. Government expands its power during a crisis. The government cannot be constrained and out of control spending results. Government only knows how to become bigger.

9. In 1991, Estonia implemented a flat tax of 22 percent and scheduled to drop to 18 percent. Great. Estonia had a compound GDP rate of 10 percent from 1993 to 2007 and grew per capita income from $5,480 per person to $21,100.

10. The legislative branch of government has shrunken in their ability to preserve liberty. Conserving for the future is the last thing on any politicians mind. We are bordering on tyranny. Some politicians think the constitution is outdated and needs replace by international legalism.

11. America has the greatest possibility for opportunity in the world.

The possibility for opportunity is much broader in America than Europe and a more attractive place to work and raise a family.

12. Increasing the number of laws does not improve the political, economic, or social quality of the system.
